Non-fiction Novel/Screenplay
Development
Ronnie C. Wright, writer
My first step was to seek the help of Professor William McKeen by enrolling in his advanced literary journalism class at the University of Florida.
Further, I hoped to bounce ideas for the working title “In Hot Sun” around with members in the class and hopefully earn some collaboration for the project.
Main Character
Growing up in Florida aka “The Sunshine State,” I thought – “Besides God – who or what is bigger than the sun?” I like the idea because we move in and out of it everyday of our lives.
Sources
The primary sources for the story of In Hot Sun comes from the path of “warriors” living, breathing, working, playing, cheering and striving in the solar glow. The “non-fiction novel”screenplay connects the mind, body & spirit of a “college nation” with that of actual war.
The Swamp
The idea is symbolic because as the saying goes: “Nothing comes out of the swamp but, a Gator!”
Journal Production
During the Fall Semester 2009, at the University of Florida.
Summary
An electric cross-campus journey.

In Hot Sun is a 2009 In The Arena Journalism diary written by Ronnie C. Wright as a “non-fiction novel”/feature film.
The story is a {PATH}Personal Avenue To Happiness…which traces the life and longings of “warriors,” – college students, professors, staff, an imaginary war veteran and Wright’s own life. The journal follows the lives of its participants throughout “the swamp” and evolves into a drama about love, adventure & victory. Wright narrates and uses flashbacks to tell the story that begins through the eyes of a journalist inspired by an imaginary war veteran’s words: “Welcome To The Swamp.”

In The Arena Journalism
____________________________
In The Arena Journalism is a style I developed at the University of Florida in 2009 that literally revolves around the word “STYLE” – employing five key characteristics.
{STYLE}
(S)cenes to tell the story
(T)riangular dialogue
(Y)ou – your own uniqueness revealed
(L)iterary techniques
(E)nriching life details – “character essence”
In The Arena Journalism is non-fiction writing that sticks to (a)ccuracy (b)asic source – the writer (c)haracter dimension.
History
_______________________________________
I published my first In The Arena Journalism project online as a non-fiction novel/screenplay.
Note: “Triangular Dialogue” is a theory I invented that incorporates three components:
1. Width
2. Depth
3. Height
